For the purpose of creating your natal report, or birth chart, the alignment of the planets is "fixed" at birth, frozen in time and unchanging. This configuration of the stars sheds light on your personality, wants, desires and when combined with another person, you relationship potential. However, it is onl the starting point for determining how the stars affect your life today and in the future.

To analyze destiny and the future, astrologers use transits, or the movements of the planets over time. They apply the concepts of planetary aspects (how the planets align with another) to determine how you are feeling on a day-to-day basis, and to forecast important future events in your life. Transit analysis seeks planetary transits that are conjuncted, harmonious and in opposition.

Because the planets move around the sun at different speeds, their planetary aspects are bound to change over time (although you birth chart is not changed, since it is fixed at a point in time). The most important of these changes occurs in the sun, moon and rising sign relative to the outer planets, which move slowly around the sun. These transits can pack quite a punch as they move through the houses.

Some key transit aspects that point to a particularly good or bad time are:

Mars conjunct with Venus: You are extremely creative during this period and can produce amazing art, literature or music. Your sex drive isn't too bad either.

Jupiter conjunct with Mars: You get your life together and take action that helps you now. You are realistic and organized.

Saturn opposite Venus: Watch out, your relationship could be headed for a fall. Your emotions become clear and if love is not present, the relationship is doomed.

Uranus conjunct Mars: You may make a rash decision, or one out of anger. You might not want to take a skiing trip either, since accidents often happen during this time.
