The outer planets of our solar system are Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. They are called outer planets because they can't be seen without the aid of a telescope. This means that ancient astrologers did not have knowledge of them when casting charts and intepreting the stars.

As such, the outer planets don't have as much to do with defining your personality, as they do with defining your generation as a whole. The reason is simple: unlike the sun, which travels all twelve signs of the zodiac in one year, it takes Uranus 84 years to do, Neptune 165 years and Pluto about 250 years. The influences of these planets then is best seen over time, and not on the personality of any one individual.

Below is a description of each of the outer planets and its effect on us:

Uranus: Uranus is the planet of unexpected change and rebellion. It takes Uranus about 8 years to make it through each of the 12 signs of the zodiac, making it a harbinger of original thinking or new ways of doing things. For this reason, Uranus is often associated with technology and science. It rules electricity and invention.

Neptune: Neptune's position in the sky at the time of your birth most likely describes the idealism of your generation (either positively or negatively). It is the planet of "dreams", and rules intuition, imagination and psychic powers. Anything or anyone deeply spiritual likely has Neptune as an influencer. The dark side of Neptune is that it may bring deception and illusion.

Pluto: Pluto's effect on us and our world is not fully known yet. The planet was not discovered until 1930, and therefore has not even made it through each sign of the zodiac yet (it will complete in 2176). However, from what astrologers know so far, Pluto is representative of massive change - death and rebirth. The transformations that Pluto brings in its cycles are massive and important, and may have taken years to come to fruition.
