From an esoteric point of view your birth chart is a portrait of your soul's intention for this lifetime, the lessons to be learned, qualities to develop, problems to be resolved, service to be rendered. From that perspective, the choices one makes in one's daily life have reverberations that may last beyond even this lifetime.

This report is written to help you clarify your lessons and goals, illuminate your struggles, and encourage you to move in the direction of your true purposes.

The best to you on your journey...

Chapter 1: The Moon

The placement of the Moon in your birth chart is very significant from a karmic perspective, as it indicates the accumulated karmic tendencies, both positive and negative, that you carry from your past incarnated experiences on earth.

While the Sun reveals your intended purposes and lessons for this present life cycle, the MOON represents what you have already done and developed, hence, what is instinctive and natural to you, and what you tend to do over and over again. Your childhood is also reflected in the Moon's placement, as it is through those childhood circumstances that any unresolved past-life issues are re-stimulated. Your subconscious predisposition is indicated by the Moon's position. It is the psychic imprint of the past. The nodes of the Moon describe behavior patterns from the past, as well as delineating a direction out of outworn or overdone behaviors and habits.

Moon in Virgo:

You instinctively react to challenges or stress by dissecting and analyzing the problem (often obsessively), and you can be a compulsive worrier. You tend to feel that it is your responsibility to fix things, and blame yourself when things go awry. Also, you may respond by staying busy, busy, busy, throwing yourself into your work, cleaning, straightening, or putting things in order. Domestic chores in particular seem to soothe you, as you need tidiness and order in your surroundings to feel at ease internally, and you have a deeply ingrained need to be useful. You often feel guilty when you are not being productive or making a contribution. Conversely, you feel a lot of emotional satisfaction when you are accomplishing practical tasks, and especially when you are helping others in a real, concrete way. You enjoy being needed and taking care of people, "doing for others".

Although you find giving very rewarding, you may also have been taught to deny yourself for others' sake, and you can be something of a martyr or a workaholic. If you find yourself giving but secretly resenting or criticizing others (the recipients of your "service"), you probably should re-examine the balance of giving and receiving in your life. In your incarnational past you devoted your life to serving other people (either in a religious order or, quite literally, as a servant), and you were strongly influenced by the puritan work/guilt ethic. This now makes it hard for you to relax and enjoy yourself, or to do for yourself, or you have a subconscious prohibition against it. You may feel disapproving and holier-than-thou when you see other people being or playing in a frivolous, extravagant way (when they "should be" working). You can be self-righteous but at the same time you are quite humble. Self-doubt and a definite tendency to underestimate your worth or importance are apt to be deeply-rooted habits.

You need to learn to be less exacting and perfectionistic toward yourself (and, as a result, others around you). If you release your negative tendency in this regard, your body will be healthier as well. In your home and in your closest relationships, try to be less concerned with tidiness, efficiency, or doing it "the right way", and more with accepting and empathizing. Strive for "good enough" rather than faultless. Learn to look for the positive elements of a situation or person, rather than what needs improvement. You were taught to be grateful for what you have been given, but not to ask for or expect much. Try to take that kernel of gratitude and expand upon it in finding as many things as possible to praise and be genuinely glad of. Simplicity may well be your innate preference, but it need not be joyless austerity.

(Another series of past lifetimes which may presently influence you involved being a doctor, nurse, or healer. This carries over as a strong interest in health, the science of nutrition and natural methods of healing, or choosing medicine or another of the helping professions as a career. You may be very particular about food, as a "health fanatic". As with many things, you tend to be a bit compulsive about it. However, providing wholesome, nutritious meals is one way you nourish yourself and the people you care for. Baking your own bread may be especially satisfying and therapeutic for you).

Moon SemiSquare Jupiter:

Prior lifetimes of great ease, luxury and what is considered "the good life" have engendered in you various tendencies which carry over into your present life cycle: a certain optimism, a taken-for-granted faith that whatever you need will be provided, and the inclination to generously and easily share whatever good fortune you possess. When acting from these instincts, you are very open and freehanded, though perhaps indiscriminately and extravagantly so. Out of this good-hearted, brotherly attitude you may support people or causes without thoroughly investigating them. Also from your incarnational past, there is the theme of having a big, warm family, many friends, and a wide range of social contacts. You were popular and influential in a social sense. An involvement in politics, law and/or religion (to the extent that the church dictated and organized people's lives) is indicated, and this carries over into the present as a desire for the same popularity and favor you once enjoyed. The desire to "do good" and contribute to the betterment of your fellow man is a positive expression of this, and you do indeed possess an instinctive knowledge of how to appeal to the masses. However, beware of taking shortcuts, acting from greed, or trying to get something with relatively no effort. Also, trying to "buy" friends or gain a superficial popularity in order to puff up your own sense of importance are negative potentials. A tendency towards excess indulgence in rich living, good times, partying, food, drink or splurging on "only the best", needs to be held in check. If you manifest problems with your weight, water-retention, liver or gall bladder there may be karmic results of wastefulness and over consumption, the seeds of which were sown in your incarnational past. Moderation and temperance are needed, especially with fats and alcohol.

North Node in Libra:

In the past you had to rely primarily on yourself, and you are now moving toward cooperating, relating, including others, and interdependence. Learning how to relate fairly, considerately, and with thought for others is your growth direction.

North Node in 2nd house:

You may find your past tendency is activated whenever issues of shared or joint assets, legacies, or merging your resources with another's comes up. You succeed in your own financial affairs when you apply your new attitude (growth direction).

Chapter 2: The Sun

The Sun in your birth chart represents the primary creative thrust for this lifetime, those qualities you are to develop (or further develop) and express, and your current life focus. This may be in harmony with your instincts and your emotional habits, or along completely different lines. The Sun represents your conscious identity in this lifetime.

Sun in Leo:

Your path of soul development in this lifetime revolves around developing your awareness of yourself as a distinct, unique individual. It is not enough for you to simply be who and what you are, you must radiate your inner essence outwardly, express it, bring it forth in a creative way. Although ultimately your goal is self-discovery and self-recognition, you initially have a profound need to make an impression on others and to be recognized and appreciated by the world. In many ways you are like the eager child who, delighted with the discovery of a new power or accomplishment, demands of all and sundry "See ME! Look what I can do!". Of course, you do this in subtler ways (usually!). Nevertheless, the joy of self-discovery and self-expression, and the yearning for "strokes", applause, and affirmation is very much present in you. Put simply, you tend to be rather fascinated with yourself. Your tendency to dramatize or exaggerate, and your desire to be the center of attention comes from a need to project yourself into the world in order to see yourself and what makes you special. However, your acute awareness of yourself as an individual can also lead to an excessive, constant self-consciousness which may actually inhibit your free flow of self-expression. You may feel that you are always on stage and have to perform or have to be the best, because you are being watched (at least by yourself!). And you can be incredibly self-centered at times, blind to other people's realities and to the larger realm of life which does not revolve around you.

It is imperative for you to find an area in which you can excel and shine and truly make a significant, personal contribution which matches your inner sense of nobleness. You must have a domain, one which is yours alone to shape and fashion according to your own inner dictates. Unless you are acting from your own heart, from your own core, you are not fulfilling your destiny. Thus, you will resist imitating and being dictated to by others, for your task is to find your own inner light and radiate it. While young you are apt to have heroes and images of greatness in whatever form most resonates with your heart. Ultimately you must become your own hero.

The obvious potential downfall for you (in terms of spiritual growth) is becoming overly preoccupied with the more superficial aspects of your ego, your sense of pride, and personal importance. At your worst you feel threatened by others' original, creative expression or their successes and are unable to give them the acclaim and recognition they have earned. It is as if no one else exists in their own light, except as extensions of yourself, minor characters in a play which stars you. But at your best you affirm not only your own worth and specialness, you also warmly encourage other people's creative talents and the blossoming of their potentials and greatness. You cherish individuality and creativity in other people and nurture that spark wherever you find it. Once free from the great allure of and interest in your ego, you begin to fall in love with the creative process itself and to experience a great joy in being a part of life expressing itself, not only through you, but through others' lives as well.

Chapter 3: Rising Sign

The point that was on the eastern horizon at the moment of your birth is called the ASCENDANT, or rising sign. While the Sun describes your conscious direction and current life focus, and the Moon your subconscious predisposition and past, the Ascendant indicates a way of being that transcends and embraces past, present, and future. It describes the way you engage and merge with the outer world and how you bring through into life the energies depicted by the Sun, the Moon, and the rest of your birth chart. Everything is filtered through the Ascendant from an esoteric point of view. It indicates your soul's function and thus a key part of your destiny.

Virgo Rising:

You do everything skillfully with a fine sense of craftsmanship and precision, perfectionism, care and attention to detail. You are keenly observant and have an acute sensitivity to each and every thing in your environment; therefore, you attend to small things that others do not readily notice, the subtleties, the fine points. You fulfill your soul function through service, assisting and helping others, perhaps in a rather humble, understated, unglamorous way, and doing a job for its own sake rather than for personal recognition or glory. Your simple desire to be useful and to be of service, your willingness to engage in ongoing practice in order to improve, and your willingness to change or adjust yourself according to the light you have at any given moment, enables you to fulfill your function. When out of balance, you criticize, worry, obsess about yourself and/or your health or body, and tend to magnify problems.

Virgo Rising and Mercury in Virgo:

Your ruling planet, Mercury, is in Virgo as well, indicating a fine mind with a penchant for clear logical analysis, categorizing and classifying, and developing specialized skills, techniques, and expertise in some practical area. However, unless other factors in your birth chart suggest a breadth of vision and understanding, you are apt not only to forget the forest for the trees, but to forget the tree for the particular kind of bark. You can get lost in minutia, data, and facts, and be unable to perceive the overall direction or meaning.

Moon Conjunct Asc.:

You are to play the role of listener and supporter, dedicated coach, parent or guardian, loyal devotee. You also have a deep intuitive sense of the public's needs, desires, tastes, and emotional requirements which enables you to work fruitfully with them.

Mercury Conjunct Asc.:

A thinker and a communicator, the use of your mind, your voice, your words are key elements of your contribution to life. Like Hermes, god of messages and messengers as well as of thieves and tricksters, you are also a bridge between people and ideas.

Chapter 4: Saturn, Your Achilles Heel

Karmically considered, the placement of Saturn in your birth chart indicates where your energetic blockages, weaknesses and fears lie, and the areas of your life where the most concentrated effort and discipline will be required to master and overcome them. Yet it also points to the aspects of life which can become your greatest strength if you are willing to face your fears and difficulties honestly, and work with them patiently.

Saturn in Sagittarius

Your struggle in life revolves around your personal search for meaning and faith. For you, it will be impossible to accept standard formulas for salvation or enlightenment, though you may be tempted to seek refuge in a rather rigid religious framework or dogmatic belief system. You are apt to become disillusioned by such, however, and suffer a loss of faith, or experience a spiritual crisis which at the core is really a call for you to go deeper and to search for truth in a much more focused and honest fashion. "What does it all mean?" is not simply rhetorical speculation for you. Unless you discover - not merely intellectually but in a direct, intuitive fashion -answers that give you real assurance, you are prone to despondency, a lack of hope, a sense of fatality or an anxious fear about the future. Spiritual authorities, groups, teachers, and teachings may play an important role in your life, but you must beware of becoming restricted by them, limiting yourself and your experience of life thereby. On the other hand, the use of ritual and regular devotional or meditative practices can be very helpful to you, as long as you do not become fixated upon the form. It is the spirit, the essence, that you are really seeking. You have a tendency to be pedantic, rule-bound, or close-minded, especially in your philosophical, religious or spiritual thinking.

Saturn in 4th house:

Your roots, background, origins, early home life and/or relationships with your parents is the arena where you most likely have been frustrated or suffered a lack of support (physical or emotional). Basic insecurities stemming from the legacy of your childhood need to be addressed and healed. Being neglected, deprived or burdened with responsibilities beyond a child's capacity may have robbed you of the sense of security a child derives from being taken care of. Quite possibly you were forced into fending for yourself earlier than you were develop-mentally ready for. Thus, as an adult you need to concentrate on building a solid inner base of security within yourself. One of the blessings here is that through this process you have the opportunity to find your "true home", a place within you that is the source of real security and nourishment. On an external level, owning your own home or property and developing it over time can be a way to help this process along.

You have a tendency to isolate yourself and become a hermit. At certain periods in your life this is necessary and good, for you develop the strength and self-esteem which were not nurtured in your beginnings. However, you should beware of closing people out entirely, and of rejecting intimacy, family ties, or deep emotional investment.

Saturn is Retrograde:

All of the above is complicated by the fact that you carry a rather heavy burden of self-doubt, mistrust, or guilt over having let yourself and others down in your past, when you struggled (and failed) with these same issues. You now have the opportunity to correct your course, make amends and resolve a difficult karmic tangle, or a difficult state of mind.

Chapter 5: The Hard Aspects

The following is a description of your MAJOR LIFE CHALLENGES, both in terms of energies you are to learn to develop and express in a positive way, and those which are the result of struggles and unresolved karmic issues which you have brought into this life.

Mercury is Retrograde:

A prior lifetime in which you were discouraged to think, learn, or express your ideas is indicated. This may have carried over in this lifetime as a mild learning problem in childhood, or inner (somewhat unconscious) doubts about your ability to learn or to communicate. Thus, you have a habit of rechecking, reconsidering, reviewing, and rethinking everything before you put it out. You may even have a desire to learn about subjects that seem archaic, to learn about those things which were denied to you in the past.

Mercury Conjunct Pluto:

You have a penetrating, incisive mind which cuts through surface appearances to the deeper, underlying heart-of-the-matter. Your perceptions and profound insights border at times on being truly uncanny, for you have the gift of being able to perceive the hidden content, the concealed, disguised, or suppressed aspects of a person, situation, or subject. On a concrete level, this quality of mind impels you to be the researcher or investigator, searching out the unknown, uncovering a mystery. Even in casual social interaction you automatically perceive others' subconscious intentions and motives. You are very astute psychologically. Hence, your presence can be somewhat threatening to those who have secrets or who have much invested in the superficial and prefer not to go any deeper.

This capacity carries with it, however, challenges and pitfalls. You may find yourself falling into a habit of mind that is suspicious, paranoid, cynical, or preoccupied with the dark underside of life, and this may skew your entire outlook. (You may also use your considerable insight, persuasiveness, and mental power to try to manipulate others' thoughts and actions which would inevitably bring negative karmic results.) Verbally you can be quite cutting and hurtful. Realize that simply speaking "the truth" without mercy or sensitivity to how your words are received, can do more harm than good.

At its worst this aspect would be expressed in a Machiavellian type of mind, utilizing your keen perception to manipulate and dominate others.

Venus Square Neptune:

You are in love with love, and your path in life, as well as many of your challenges, involves understanding and experiencing the realm of the heart. Irresistibly romantic, you have the soul of a poet, a devotee, and above all, a lover.

In its earliest stages of development, this pattern within inclines you to be easily seduced, overcome with emotional yearning and infatuation, unable to discern the motives and intentions of others, particularly if the other person appears beautiful, soft, innocent, or in need. You can confuse pity with love. You see the angel in the other person, and are deeply disillusioned to discover the selfishness or sordidness.

Further on, your relationship with spirit may become paramount in your life, a relationship between lover and beloved. Your path is then what the Hindus refer to as "bhakti" -spiritual devotion and service. This higher octave of love and widening of the heart's affections can be very beautiful, but herein lies the crux of some of your very human problems: "Where are the limits or boundaries in relationships?" "Are there conditions in love, or is unconditional love the ideal?". Sorting out these questions and similar ones are part of what your life is about.

Mars Square Uranus:

You are like a very high-spirited, temperamental horse, full of great energy and drive, but also impulsive, erratic, fitful, and prone to sudden starts and stops. Also there is within you a fierce independence, a strong craving for freedom, and at times a fiery rebelliousness. If you have free rein, you can be relatively happy, though not ever completely "settled" or contentedly serene for long. Under conditions that are too structured and constricted, however, you are more apt to blow up.

When out of balance you are prone to express yourself in ways that can have negative karmic consequences, such as: irritable impatience and a volatile, unpredictable temper (which can affect your health as well as damage the trust and quality of your relationships); intense restlessness (resulting in an inability to persist with a project long enough to see it through to completion); a complete unwillingness to cooperate or compromise (which also can undermine relationships, particularly with authority); physical recklessness (which an lead to accidents); and/or the inclination to ignite controversy and unrest in your environment. Because of your high (if somewhat unstable) energy level you are apt to forge ahead, oblivious to the fact that you are running right over the people around you. You may believe you are your own law or are above the law. Too much attachment to action and to being right are also potentials within you.

Learning to slow down, developing patience and the capacity to wait and cultivating a more steady, peaceful spirit will enable you to express the higher creativity, originality, and inspired passion of which you are capable.

Jupiter Conjunct North Node:

As you follow your growth direction, you will attract teachers, benefactors, patrons, spiritual and material aid, and an expanded sphere of involvement and influence in others' lives -far more than you initially imagine or conceive of. Trust your impulses toward generosity and have faith in a higher plan.

Chapter 6: Soft Aspects

The following is a description of your GIFTS and STRENGTHS which can help you work with your major life challenges. These are abilities and qualities of heart, mind, and soul which are quite natural to you. You probably take them for granted. Because these represent the lines of least resistance for you, you may rely too much upon them at times; hence, there are some cautions suggested. Still, these are the areas where good flows into your life and/or where you have considerable inner resources.

Sun Trine Saturn:

Your ability to concentrate on a task or goal for long periods of time are strengths you may take for granted. Coupled with this is an innate shrewdness, worldly wisdom, and ambition which enables you to achieve long range goals. Though you may (or may not) be idealistic and dreamy at times, you have a firm grasp of reality and of what it takes to operate successfully in practical and material terms. You want to be a "heavy weight", a person of substance, someone to be taken seriously and so you are willing to do the work, delay gratification, and build something solid and enduring in your life. This capacity for self-discipline and for creating and maintaining stability in your life are gifts you can fall back on when faced with challenges in your life. Men, and particularly older men, will take an interest in your progress and prove to be a significant aid in achieving your life's aims.

Moon Trine Mars:

A healthy, vigorous spirit to overcome obstacles, the capacity to initiate projects and act decisively, and a certain purposeful, direct way of dealing with life are gifts you have developed in the past and which you now may draw on at anytime. You have been a warrior and a leader, and were called upon to strike while the iron was hot, so that now you are quite capable of doing the same.

You are innately competitive, and are apt to have good instincts and timing regarding when to act and when to take risks. Courage, boldness, and physical prowess are also yours.

In addition, you know how to stir people's emotions and mobilize public sentiment, to get other people acting and moving upon the things you care the most about.

Neptune Sextile Pluto:

Collectively, this is a time in history that enables you and those of your generation to advance spiritually through a heightened awareness of the invisible and intangible realms. A rebirth of spirituality through direct contact with higher forces is occurring in this generation. This contact takes many, many forms, including a compelling interest in life beyond death. You may or may not have a personal involvement with this, as it is a group karma rather than a primarily personal one.
