Chiron is a mystery to both astrologers and astronomers. Ever since it was discovered moving towards earth in 1977, it has not been classified, either as an asteroid, small planet or anything else. It does however, have its own orbit around the sun, which makes it interesting to astrologers.

Chiron is odd because it does not spend equal amount of times in each sign (it spends more time in Pisces and Aries than in Libra or Scorpio). To go through the entire zodiac takes over 50 years, which means that we have not seen it go through an entire cycle since its discovery.

Although the effects of Chiron are not fully known, astrologers consider it meaningful if it occupies an angle in your chart (e.g., if it conjuncts or opposes), or it conjuncts with your Sun, Moon, or Rising Sign. If this is the case, then Chiron represents both pain and healing. It may reflect a part of your life that has disappointed or hurt you, as well the healing or overcoming of pain.
