Introduction to Astrology
log-in

Simply put, astrology is the study and analysis of the effect of the planets on the world, especially humans. Many astrologers call this a science, while many non-astrologers, (like Webster's dictionary) refer to it as the "divination of supposed influences." Indeed, there may be skeptics of astrology, but its been around for thousands of years, and will suprise you in its accuracy if you open your mind to the possibilities it holds.

Astrology began formally around the 7th Century BC, when ancient Babylonians created a system of astrology, complete with a calendar and birth charts. Ever since, kings and queens, and even United States Presidents have been consulting astrology to better understand themselves and the future. And while astrology is limited in its ability to predict exact events, it is useful for learning about your personality, how you relate to others (especially lovers), and what times of the forseeable years will be both good and bad for you.

The reason that astrology works is because it is time-tested and "proven." There may be no reams of statistical analysis on the accuracy of astrology that have been accepted by the scientific community, but there is plenty of regular anecdotal evidence that astrology works. To prove it to yourself, all you have to do is read the description of your sun sign. If you're a boisterous free-wheeling Leo, you're a lot more likely to to find meaning when reading the description of the Leo sun-sign, than in reading say, the description of careful, analytical and organized Virgo.

There are four sections in the MyAstrologyAdvisor.com library if you want to get more information about the basics of astrology. They are:

Astrology Signs: You probably already know what sign you are and how that affects your personality - but its fun to refresh your memory.

Basic Astrology Elements: Go beyond the sun sign to see how all the planets affect the study of astrology

Advanced Astrology Elements: When you're ready to be impressed at just how much mathematical analysis goes into creating your birth chart, review these pages.

Destiny & the Future: If you ever wondered how horoscopes are cast and the future is predicted, then start here (although a basic knowledge of astrology is in order).
